The University-wide commencement program will be at McKale Center on
Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 9:30 am

UA Commencement is a dignified ceremony where guests are encouraged to celebrate the successes of graduating students. Throwing food and other objects during the ceremony does not personify dignity and respect. Please do not throw food or other items during commencement and preserve the ceremony for future students and families.

Tickets are not required for the University-wide ceremony in McKale Center. Tickets may be required for college convocations.

Ceremonies will begin as soon as the platform group has been seated and should conclude within approximately one hour and thirty minutes.

Several of the colleges will have receptions and convocations. Please see College Convocations for more information.

A list of hotels and motels can be obtained by checking the Tucson Convention & Visitors Bureau website at the Visitor Information link.

Mortar Board, the Senior Honorary, will be selling flowers before and after the Commencement ceremony.

Parking is available on Commencement Day at all University surface lots and garages. Parking adjacent to McKale Center is restricted for disabled parking only. Enke Drive, in front of McKale Center, will close to traffic for 30 minutes after the Commencement ceremony. We strongly suggest that you park north of the Mall or south of Sixth Street to avoid traffic congestion and parking confusion. Distance to McKale from these areas is a pleasant walk, or you can take the UA shuttle. The shuttle stops are located as shown on the parking map.  For more information, please call Visitor Programs at (520) 621-3710.

Family Members and Guests with Disabilities:
Guest with disabilities who may use accommodations, should contact Barbara Borich at Disability Resources, (520) 621-5176 or bborich@email.arizona.edu.
Please see the Commencement Parking map at the Visitor Information link for special drop-off and parking accomodations.
The Commencement ceremony will be open captioned; however, guests who prefer ASL interpreters may sit in reserved seating in Section 18.

TO MANY STUDENTS, COMMENCEMENT REPRESENTS THE ONLY FORMAL CELEBRATION OF THEIR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT, AND IT IS OFTEN MEANINGFULLY SHARED WITH CLOSE FRIENDS AND FAMILY. IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ENJOY COMMENCEMENT WITHOUT ALCOHOL, YOU SHOULD NOT ATTEND!

The UA Channel broadcasts UA commencement ceremonies live each semester on Cox 19 and for a limited number of Comcast viewers who live inside the Tucson city limits, the ceremonies will be broadcast on Comcast Channel 76.

To place an order for a DVD copy of the next ceremony or a past ceremony, please contact Arizona Public Media at (520) 626-7420 or via email at contactazpm@azpublicmedia.org. DVD copies of the ceremony are $19.95 payable by cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express. In addition, KUAT will air both ceremonies live on the internet at kuat.org.
