Convocations are the ceremonies in which each individual college organizes to honor their graduates. In most cases, the student's name is read and they proceed across a stage. Commencement is the university wide celebration, in which all colleges attend, and where the students' degrees are conferred by the UA's president.
*August candidates will be listed in the commencement program for the preceding May. December/Winter candidates, whose degrees have been awarded, will be listed in the following Spring commencement program.
Example: The program for this May (2017) will contain the names of: December 2016/Winter 2016 (awarded), May 2017 (applied), August 2017 (applied).
Parking is available in all garages and surface lots.
The ceremony is projected to be 90-120 minutes long from start to finish.
Photographers will be available near the assembly area.
Custom-printed announcements are available at the U of A Bookstores, where you can also purchase diploma frames, caps, gowns, hoods, and tassels.
